Pearl Habor

Today we went to visit Pearl Harbor. The memorial was extremely touching and something everyone should visit. The tour beings with a 20 minute movie with live footage from the attacks. Next you take a boat out to the memorial which lies above the USS Arizona. And lastly a tour through the museum.

Inside the memorial- a wall that lists the names of all the people lost on the USS Arizona.


This wall lists the names of the survivors that later passed and chose to be buried at the bottom of the ship with their fellow men.

Oil on the suraface of the water above the boat. The remains of the boat release 2 quarts of oil per day. They said its daily release of oil from the boat are the tear from the lost men.


Every guest is given a flower to toss overboard in memory of the fallen soilders and marines.

Maui

On Monday Ali and I left for Maui. Unfortunately we did not have the best of weather while we were there, but still fit the "touristy" stuff in. Our first night in Maui we went to Front St. in Lahaina. Front Street is in downtown Lahaina and is filled with shops and restaurants.

Our second day in Maui is rained so we spent the day in bed reading and treated ourselves to a spa treatment.

On Wednesday we did the Tour to the town of Hana. The road to Hana is dangerous, it has approximately 600 curve and 56 one-lane bridges.

North Shore 5- Turtle Bay Resort

And lastly we stopped at the Turtle Bay Resort which is the only resort on the North Shore. The resort was absolutely beautiful, the pictures do not do it justice. Forgetting Sara Marshall and other famous movies were filmed at this resort.

Ali and I will be heading off to Maui tomorrow and will be back Thursday! Enjoy the pictures and we will post more later in the week!

North Shore 4- Haleiwa and the Dole Pineapple Farm

Next we stopped at Haleiwa- a cute little beach town on the North Shore.

We got homemade ice cream from a little shop in town- it was delicious!

Next we went to visit the Dole Pineapple Plantation. It was interesting- something everyone should visit once.... at least for the free samples!

Next we stopped at Giovanni's Shrimp Shack- apparently a very famous place to visit. The shrimp was doused in garlic, again another luxury. The beach pictures below are of Turtle Bay. We stopped off to see the honu (turtles) but we didn't see any, but we did get to see the amazing view!
